Mbah Sipah (Dukun Pijat, 60 Tahun)

She[1] is one of the traditional baby massage therapists who lives in Wonosari, Kendal. Her daily activities involve massaging babies or adults who need help. In her routine, she can massage 5-6 people each day, with each session lasting between 1-2 hours. During the massage process, Mbah Sipah uses a special mixture that she makes herself, commonly referred to as ‘Wedak’. This Wedak mixture is made using traditional herbs, including Beras Kencur (rice and ginger), lemongrass, tamarind, fennel (Foeniculum Vulgare Mill), Temu Giring (Curcuma heyneana), and salt. These ingredients are mixed with warm water and applied to the body during the massage process.

In addition to her massage skills, Mbah Sipah is also skilled in preparing herbal drinks (jamu). The ingredients she uses for jamu include Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), Temu Giring, Widowati, Lempuyang (Zingiber zerumbet), and tamarind. The jamu prepared by Mbah Sipah is believed to cure various ailments. The preparation involves drying the ingredients, grinding them, and then mixing them with warm water.
